Friends, we have had an amazing spree of bird sightings of late, and I am excited to bring you the third and final installment of our ornithological photographic series. As of this writing, we do not yet know whether the network will renew it for a second season, so please cherish this as possibly the last time you will have to read about birds you care nothing about.
Have we introduced you to the shag yet? Apparently shags = cormorants.Ah yes, there's a nice profile. An oystercatcher and its baby! We must be getting better at this if we're finding the babies in the wild.A bird by a waterfall. You may not know this, but this is a very rarely photographed flitty bird. Well done, Scott.Oh wow, and he even got two shots of it. And this one shows it eating something!Ah, the beautiful ritual of the beachside dinner patrol.Red fluff head!Be prepared to be amazed by the variety of small birds we were able to capture on film. This is some type of sparrow.A male AND a female sparrow. Incredible. That yellow head! But - this is not a "yellow head". Don't get confused. This miiiiiiiight be a bellbird.Oh hello! This one is a baby!Yet another small bird. Are you impressed yet?Ok, somebody needs a feather brush.Buds.There's that yellow head, peeking out again. With dinner?Scott: Elisse, all our royal spoonbill photos are completely blown out. Elisse: Oh no!! But I took like 400 of them!At least you can kind of see its weirdo fluffy head.WE CAUGHT A PUKEKO ON CAMERAOur good friend the tui, perched on a NZ flax plant.Birds.A gull!Another kind of gull! Two kinds of gulls together!Man, this wood pigeon posed for us perfectly over the trail for however long we wanted. Scott had absolutely no excuse on this one to not get an awesome photo.Ah ha! The harrier finally makes an appearance while Scott's camera is out.We leave you with "that brown spotty bird".
Elisse: Scott, I may be tired of birds now. Ooh, see there’s one over there! Did you get that one?
AHH that oystercatcher baby! And red fluff head! I was super impressed and amazed. I hope if the network doesn’t pick it up that at least there will be bonus material on the dvd!
No apologies, I loved seeing the birds. Great photography as well. Your travel blog has been so wonderful and I am so happy you two could do this adventure. I have been following you all the way. I know it’s coming to an end here soon, it must be a little bittersweet. Hope to see you in a few weeks. Love, Gwen

So there is *lots* of bonus material, albeit at slightly lesser quality…
Like 398 other photos of the spoonbills? Can’t wait! :)
Seriously though I have loved these and would be totally into seeing more pictures. Your pigeon portraiture sessions sounds fun !
